Hi, I’m Brian.
Before I had kids, I had no idea how much I’d love them. I get strange looks when I say that, but it’s true.
I was very hit or miss with kids…mostly miss. I’d stare at them, they’d stare back at me, we’d talk about the weather, our health, the garbage island floating in the Pacific, and then I’d politely excuse myself to use the bathroom never to return. But one day a doctor plopped a little greasy, blue, striped-blanketed bundle in my lap and things got real.
I still don’t like other people’s kids, but I love being a dad. It makes every single part of my life more difficult…EVERYTHING…but I wake up excited about it most days…and on other days, I’m usually excited about it by like 10 AM.
My hope is that by laughing at me as I bumble through fatherhood, other dads will be able to relish in their own screw ups, and that their wives will chill the hell out and let us handle it….JUST CHILL OUT, LINDSAY!
Thanks for reading.
